Since freedom and civil liberties are an important issue, could we list
some practical imaginary examples where the UID can be used by the Govt.
to hound people it does not like? Along with that, how would it
currently do the same without the UID.

IMHO, even with the PAN card and Address proof currently in place for
official transactions, if a person is running from the law, he is not
going to flash his PAN card and Passport everywhere he goes. Plus today
the easiest way to track people is via their cell phone locations.
