You need to:

1. Create OS install disk (or USB image) using HP utility
2. Format the hdd and install Ubuntu (leave some space for Win 8 partition)
3. Install Win 8 using recovery disk created on step #1
4. You can dual-boot to this partition or attach it to a VM
