You can install Ubuntu on it and you can install most of the developer
packages you want anyways its not such a powerful machine but for the
battery and portablity its quite good.
Search for "chrubuntu" there are lot of tip/tricks.

Yeah, that was my first plan, but ChrUbuntu is a dirty hack.
