I faced this issue with some projectors. Solution was to run xrandr manually. xrandr --addmode DP1 1024x768 xrandr --output DP1 --mode 1024x768 --rate 60 (does your macbook had display port as DP1 too?) > * It appears that apple has moved the webcam from usb based interface to > PCI and so I am unable to use the built-in webcam (an external webcam works > fine) in Ubuntu.
