Looks like an out of control autoresponder, that has been activated on some address that is subscribed to the list, or possibly may have been applied at the domain level, so the user may not even be aware that his mails are being autoresponder to. And it looms like that autoresponder doesn't have a circuit breaker, as each autoresponse is getting posted to the list, then it gets sent to all lost members, including the OP, which in turn is triggering another autoresponse....
