A little background about Gnukhata (GN correct me if I misstate anything below) https://gnukhata.in/ It has been developed under the aegis of the Digital Freedom Foundation. Target audience: the Indian Small and Medium Enterprises -- a replacement for Tally. It has all the latest tax updates as applicable by the Center and various State Governments. IIRC the development work started circa 2008. The UI is a dedicated client that needs to be installed on the desktop.
