Hi. I am trying to configure kernel-2.6.33.5 with realtime patch (RT_PREEMPT) on a Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Extreme CPU Q9300 @ 2.53GHz with 4 processors (quad-core). While configuring the kernel, I selected 586/K5/5x86/6x86/6x86MX (M586) in the processor type, and the kernel boots perfectly. There is also an option of Core 2/newer Xeon (MCORE2). So, should I select the Core 2 option, or will the option that I selected work fine. I am also surprised as to how it works.
I have been using linux since quite some time but its my first experience with kernel configuration. Any help/suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks and Regards, Neel Mehta Third year Undergraduate student, Electrical Engineering, IIT Bombay
