I made local modifications to add a severity prefix (eg ERROR, WARNING, FATAL, 
...) to all
log messages.
My monitoring program has an inotify on the log and scans for errors.
I also have a php script which runs on my MASTER, which does a series of pmc 
requests to
all slaves
and gets their status including time offsets etc

Not very elegant, but I catch most problems - but I don't use phy2sys only 
ptp4l.

That is a good question.  Scraping logs is the only way ATM.  This is
obviously not convenient, but I haven't even tried to come up with a
better way.  I'm open to suggestions or, better yet, patches!
