I had also thought about "ultimate source" for GM, but it sounds a bit weird to me. For now, my plan is to start replacing "slave" with "sink", leaving "master" alone until the sink term is established. Maybe leaving the term "master" in place will find acceptance socially. It would preserve the port role abbreviations M and S.
