Hi,

I can try…

StepsRemoved is a value that’s included in the Announce packet.
It gets sent out from the T-GM with the value = zero.
At every T-BC, the value is incremented by one (Announce packets are recreated
at a T-BC)

One it reaches your max value, (here 255), the Announce is dropped.

This value is used in the alternate BMCA in 75.1 to find the shortest path back
to the T-GM.

Subject: [Linuxptp-users] maxStepsRemoved in the G.8275.1.cfg

Looking at the git head of the linux-ptp project, I see that a new
configuration option is set in the G.8275.1 config file:

maxStepsRemoved 255

Can someone help educate me on what this option provides and why it is set to
255?

Thank you in advance.

Regards,
Ken Y
