I have similar problem too - however, in my situtation, the bootup just hangs forever.  I noticed this occurs whenever I have any USB ports or the HP docking station plugged in during boot.  My solution has been to always unplug anything the first time I boot.  Once the OHCI/USB messages pass, I plug them in.

I run gentoo-sources-2.6.15-r5 amd64.

Also, while on this topic, my USB 2.0 ports no longer work with 1.1 devices - does anyone experience this issue and/or have an idea?  This started occurring when I moved to 2.6.15 kernel.
