I had not installed the firmware. I installed it and was able to scan.
I then ran into some troubles and eventually just tried out the kernel
release candidate. Now it is all working :)

Even though I was able to get it to connect to my router using normal
the iwconfig and such, I was not able to use wpa_supplicant to connect
to my router (it always timed out). I can live without wpa_supplicant,
but is there anything I might have to do to get it working as well?
