I knew about that fix but I was hoping to run from a live CD, where that fix is not applicable, as of now because I am running alot of production software and i need all the room I have right now on my hard drive but I still want to be able to run linux with out any problems and get on the internet.
Maybe look around at some of the distros and see about making your own LiveCD. Quick search on Ubuntu found this:
