hard drive is standard 2.5".  I replaced the slower 4200 stock drive
with a Seagate/IBM 7200 rpm model just after I bought my R3120.  the
drives are getting smaller in height. 12mm, 9mm etc.  A newer drive
should be smaller than the older ones and should fit but be careful to
compare the current drive and the new one you are looking at buying.
