Yes, like Geoff said. Short story: That problem seems to be a unwinding bug in libgcc_s.so.1 of gcc-4.1.2 and upgrading to a more recent gcc usually fixes it, at least it did for anyone so far. Note: on Gentoo you also have to call: gcc-config i686-pc-linux-gnu-4.2.2 after the gcc upgrade, to switch to that new gcc profile. The exact argument depends on you architecture and gcc version of course. Use "gcc-config -l" for a list of possible profiles on your box.
