So just to get it right, you want to launch fake instrument editors by the 
sampler which you then use in the actual instrument editor application to 
control the file / instrument data structures?

I just commited it a bit modified. It would otherwise throw a runtime exception 
if the environment variable was not set and would not do what it should do on 
Windows. That environment variable can be quite handy sometimes.
