Hi All,

This Linuxsampler is pretty awesome. I am running it standalone on win x64 for orchestral work besides Reaper. I have created instrument maps with reabanks, works great.

I want the LS to output to 128 virtual ASIO audio channels to sink in 64 stereo tracks in Reaper for sequencing and mixing the full orchestral score.

However, I cannot get past 64 ASIO audio channels for 32 stereo tracks; that's a shame because my orchestral tempalte has more than 32 instruments... (luxury problem I know).

I tried with Rearoute which supports up to 256 channels just fine. Also tried Jackrouter which does the same.

But LS hangs both with Rearoute as well as Jack when trying to create an audio device with more than 64 audio channels. Happens when running 32bit or 64bit versions.

I looked into the subversion code (AudioOutputDeviceAsio.cpp) and there seems to be a hardcoded limit of ASIO channels related to buffer size ( unmodified in all branches).

I wonder, is that the culprit? Could the source be upped in asio channel count or is it an ASIO limit?

Also I wonder if this 64 audio channel limit is existent in Linux/ALSA. I could of course try, but I would prefer not to spend several Linux install hours just to find out the same cap on channels in Linux.

Your insight would be much appreciated!

Thomas
