I don't get that behaviour with macOS 10.14.3 using the stand-alone app.

To avoid misapprehensions: Make sure you closed Logic, and for now (just in 
this particular case) reboot the Mac, then use QSampler to create only one 
part, and when you create that part make sure that "CoreAudio" as audio driver 
and "CoreMIDI" as MIDI driver is selected in those two combo boxes before you 
actually create the sampler part with QSampler.

Background: the sampler actually allows quite exotic setups, and when you 
start the sampler as plugin (e.g. in Logic) you may even use the sampler in a 
mixed setup with other apps, even using multiple different drivers (AU/VST 
plugin, CoreAudio, CoreMIDI, JACK) simultaniously.
