Agreed! That sounds sensible :)

As a quick summary of supported OSes...

Valgrind:
(various architectures)Linux, X86/Darwin (Mac OS X)

OProfile/SystemTap/LTTng:
I believe userspace tracing for these only supports Linux.

GProf:
I know it does Linux, Mac OS X, not sure of any others
