Thanks much Alex, that is exactly what I needed.

Perhaps I just missed it, but I have never seen that page!  I then went and 
looked around on the wiki and could not find a link to it (but again, perhaps I 
missed it).  From the main wiki page I see a link to 
http://wiki.eclipse.org/Linux_Tools_Project/Getting_Involved , but then on that 
page I don't see a link to the page you pointed me to.

So, I added one to 
http://wiki.eclipse.org/Linux_Tools_Project/Getting_Involved#Plugin_Hacking , 
hope that is OK.
