I actually picked up this usb notebook alarm for free at Fry's about 2
weeks ago.  You wrap the wire around a table leg or something like
that and it goes thru a loop in the device and into your usb port.
You remove the key and it sets.  Without the key the alarm sounds if
you break the closed loop, which your usb port is part of.  It works
weather your laptop is powered or not.

Oh BTW, It was free (as in gratis).  Price $10 with a instant $10
rebate per the ad.  They tried to tell me it was $9 per the $19 tag on
the device.  I showed them the ad and told them READ THE PRINT.
