Rumor has it that nuclear submarine reactor control boards in the US Navy fleet 
are little more than modified Commodore 64 motherboards.

There is no requirement for anything faster, or more feature-filled.  It does 
its job, and that's all that is necessary.  If there is a problem, the 
processor is easily fast enough to react in time to avert global destruction.

Plus, they can play Loderunner like nobody's business.

Can the LHC's SLC4 say the same?  I certainly don't see it on the list of 
packages.
