Thanks for the reminder that I need to start tracking state level bills and laws on Geek-PAC.org too. At the moment we are only tracking bills in Washington DC.
Looking through the Tennessee campaign finance site I cant find any direct contributions via the recording industry or other content creators. However they may be coming in via PAC with a less-obvious name. Feel free to try and dig if you have time. http://www.tennesseeanytime.org -Ilan On Mon, Nov 17, 2008 at 8:55 PM, Chris Penn <[email protected]> wrote: > Don't go to school in Tennessee...... > > http://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2008/11/riaa-wins-campuses-lose-tennessee-governor-signs-c > > RIAA Wins, Campuses Lose as Tennessee Governor Signs Campus Network > Filtering Law > > Last week, the RIAA celebrated the signing of a ridiculous new law in > Tennessee that says: > Each public and PRIVATE institution of higher education in the state > that has student residential computer networks shall: > [R]easonably attempt to prevent the infringement of copyrighted works > over the institution's computer and network resources, if such > institution receives fifty (50) or more legally valid notices of > infringement as prescribed by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act of > 1998 within the preceding year. > > The aRRRRRRIAA is shredding the rights of Americans everywhere. > > Chris... > > -- > "As we open our newspapers or watch our television screens, we seem to > be continually assaulted by the fruits of Mankind's stupidity." > -Roger Penrose > _______________________________________________ > LinuxUsers mailing list > [email protected] > http://socallinux.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/linuxusers >
