It looks like an impostor open source project. Anytime they sell a Enterprise level version, I am suspect. I would be curious to know what the differences are between the Community edition and the Enterprise edition.
You can just use amanda for backups. I think there is a version in the ubuntu repos. Debian and disk backups http://www.howtoforge.com/disk_based_backups_amanda_debian_etch Amanda with virtual tapes on ubuntu http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=2470030 There are other tutorials for debian+amanda out there. There is also rdiffbackup and rsync backups. I have yet to mess around with Quickstart. I dont think it is a network backup solution, but it might help to make things easier in combination with a network backup server. Here is a Howto: http://www.howtoforge.org/quickstart-the-swiss-army-knife-for-ubuntu-8.04-desktop Whatever you do, I HIGHLY recommend you become a part of whatever mailing list is available by the developers of the solution you use. Usually the lists are far more informative then the forums. On Thu, Jan 22, 2009 at 4:37 PM, John Richmond IV <[email protected]> wrote: > BackupPC looks like it might do the trick.
