Free and Open Source software can save you money. Whether you're running
a business or are a computer user, FOSS software is high-quality
software that can be quite inexpensive. Smart organizations know that,
and they come to SCALE, and sponsor SCALE. And because the FOSS
community continues its vibrant growth unabated, there were more than
enough organizations to fill the "dotORG" booths at this month's Expo:
SCALE is full! And if you ever had any doubt about the health of the
Open Source community, the almost 150 submittals for 45 Expo speaker
slots is apt testimony to it.

And SCALE continues to grow as "the place to meet". Witness the groups
that are 'rendezvousing' at SCALE: Zenoss, Fedora, Subversion, and the
Ubuntu Bug Jam. And many other FOSS groups are utilizing the BOF rooms
for face-to-face meetings.

One of the primary motivations behind SCALE is to educate people about
free and open source software and to encourage them to become members of
the community. So we are encouraging the attendees of the Women in Open
Source conference to bring a friend who is not currently a member of the
FOSS community. This could be someone who might have an interest in
Free and Open Source Software but does not know how to start, or
believes that switching away from Windows is too difficult. We will
have a limited supply of "Friends of FOSS Bundles" with various items to
help people started with FLOSS. If you're planning to bring a friend,
please let us know (email [email protected]) so that we can
ensure that we have enough bundles.

So now there are even more reasons to come to SCALE 7x. But the Expo is
less than two weeks away! Don't wait - to register, go to
https://socallinuxexpo.org/reg7/. The Westin LAX still has rooms
available to rent, too. See
http://scale7x.socallinuxexpo.org/conference-info/hotel_info to reserve
your room.
