It's a moot point. This job is/was part of a contract that I've put in
my notice on. $900/monthly, but because of the way they operate, it
wasn't worth it to me, and I was continually exhausted.

But not for this server. They promised me they'd send me a power switch
that I could install, but they never did. I don't think it would
matter because they never sent me login information for the power
switches they did have.

No. Never needed them. In the last eight years only twice did we have
to visit a data center because a reboot didn't get us back on line so
we could fix whatever problems existed. And in fact less than ten
times we had to hard power reboot anything in our own cabinet, which
does have remote power control.

No idea. Their client's client would never give us root access so we
could look at the box. I know we could have done a local
single-user-mode reboot and change it, or even look at the system but
if a client' won't let us have root, then I don't want to go into the
system.

It seemed to be a good contract, and gave me access to a cage for
growth. But the actual work just wasn't for me, living 60 miles from
the DC. I'm still negotiating the cabinet (which comes from them) and
the use of the cage, but I don't know where that's going until some
time next week.
