I think it's great that they're doing this, and contributing to the community, but they're a for-much-profit-as-possible company, and it has a bigger motive behind the move. They could not possibly dream of taking on VMware without having a really decent support for Linux guests, which is where all this code comes in handy. I'm still waiting for a more detailed article on this, explaining in more details what exactly is going on.
