Yeah, I don't see this as being much of an issue either. As someone that bought a Lenovo T-61 preloaded with Linux, I wish I would have gotten the MS - Junkware discount and just instaled linux myself. In fact the included SLED software didn't last a a week before I nuked it for Ubuntu.
Although we like to say any body can easily run and maintain a Linux desktop these days, I really don't think that's true. Even I (someone that's used Linux over 10 years) have had issues in recent times with wifi, graphics, etc. Usually the answer can be found by searching forums, etc. But many solutions haven't been remedied yet. (decent 3D acceleration with intel graphics) I think the present Linux distribution methods actually work better, because you have to have at least a little technical knowledge to torrent a distro, burn to disk and install.
