Hey
Apologies for the IRC being down. This is something that DK has been
working on. He's busy with work and I'm moving this weekend.
There is nothing inherently wrong with freenode.
The IRC server we use interacts with other nodes of a common IRC
network. I believe its called OZ. If you ever looked there were
several channels besides #linuxusers. The main reason as far as i
know of using it was SSL connectivity as well as trusting it in gereral.
As far as having a #srcle group on freenode I don't have an opinion
but FYI the #linuxusers channel will be back up soon.

Perhaps some dialog is in order about simply creating a channel on
the
Freenode network. This would relieve the burden of keeping a
server going.
I looked around but did not notice an official channel yet for the
group.
There's also a registration process for official groups that can
be used to
identify us which I think would be a great idea for us.

Also, a channel name should be determined. I kind of like
#socallinux but
what is every one else's thoughts on the matter?
I think that'd be a good idea. I'm always on FreeNode, and except
for the
occasional DCC attack on the high traffic channels, it's a pretty
stable and
functional network.
