God I hate shortened URLs in emails. Is there a point to it? Is someone
limited to 80 characters in email or something? The simple fact that I
can't see the domain name of the link and the added hassle of having to
check it before I open it really annoys me. It is a little off topic, but
it goes back to an issue I had last year when a link to a torrent was sent
to the list and I opened it while I was at work because the discussion did
not relate to anything illegal. I can put some blame on me for opening it,
but A) I really shouldn't have to worry about the content being posted to
this list, and B) I shouldn't have to worry about the content when it is
sent from someone I know. David has addressed the content issue, and if
nothing else I would back it all simply because of that, but personally I
agree there needs to be structure and defined code of conduct/acceptable
use.
