Paul, Is there some magic data in the router flash that you can't lose by pressing the reset button?
Depending on the router, you can even use the reset button, go into a temporary mode, lets you reset the password, and then you do a normal power cycle and all your settings are back. You may not even lose anything by using the reset button option. On the other hand, if you don't have a goal of getting it fixed soon, and you are bored, then definitely go with Michael Sokolov's suggestion and write a tool that rotates through the alpha character space and tries to use the PSK. If you get anywhere with it, I'd like to be a beta tester to test on one of my routers here at home.
