Novell has announced the company's sale to Attachmate for $6.10/share.
More ominously: "Novell also announced it has entered into a
definitive agreement for the concurrent sale of certain intellectual
property assets to CPTN Holdings LLC, a consortium of technology
companies organized by Microsoft Corporation, for $450 million in
cash, which cash payment is reflected in the merger consideration to
be paid by Attachmate Corporation." Information on what the "certain
intellectual property assets" are is scarce at the moment.

That is right, Micro$oft has bought part of a Linux company. Before
the celebration begins, It sounds like the worst could have happened.
It is not yet determined what M$ purchased but wouldn't make sense if
they purchased rights to UNIX, which was finally determined to be
owned by Novell. I have suggested the purchase Novell for Unix by M$
for sometime now on the list. As many of you can guess,
