[LinuxUsers] Open source security monitoring

I want to be able to monitor my clients IDS system or install Snort on  
their side and monitor remotely.

I also want the ability to keep an eye on their firewall and also  
manage remotely. Same for VPN's.

I'm currently looking at Ichinga. Any advice would be helpfull.
