I didn't think of DDS that way (to me that's associated either with dentistry or with Dataphone Digital Service aka Digital Data Service, the good old 56/64 kbps leased lines, and yes, I've had one of those before SDSL), but yes, being an embedded systems engineer who refuses to classify (limit) himself as either HW or SW, I have a very hard time accepting "PCI" as being anything but the bus.
