I don't often use minimize, but I do use it to selectively clear my desktop. I use many open shell windows, overlapped, to monitor multiple servers. It's easiest for me to just click on maximize when I need them full screen, and then resize them back to their size as overlapped windows. That's what works best for me and probably always will.
