Just a note, Boxee box and the boxee software are 2 different things. Anyone can install or do anything with boxee. Source is available. The boxee box is a proprietary hardware specifically build by dlink and boxee to run their software. Dlink is likely behind the lockdown as they invested a pretty penny in creating the hardware.
