My work has several systems hosted in EC2 and they did get word from amazon
and my understanding is that only a single availability zone is currently
affected and its for launching EBS snapshots to it, new instances based on
those snapshots can be spawned in other zones just fine. So its not as
though all of EC2 has been down for a few days. Not good, but not as bad as
it initially sounded when I heard about it.
