Most likely a remount won't affect the app continuing to run, since it's most likely running from memory and not from the disk. However if the disk is the problem it's possible/probable/likely (pick one based on your personal feelings on the optimism/pessimism continuum), that either the system won't reboot, or if it will, that the app won't come back up.
