There's one other method that you left out though: Package managers.

These provide one wizard type interface for _all_ the software
on the computer (installed by the manager anyway).

This might sound a bit odd but it has heaps of advantages
and is quite standard these days and also means that you can
have your program offered as an official extension
on a distro.

Offer a source code install too. Developers and power users
won't be happy if you don't.
