I don't know what the repercussions are (besides disallowing kerberos for ssh), but this: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openssh/+bug/84899 describes your problem, and the same solution, while this: http://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-list/2006-June/msg04104.html might explain why.
