Please don't install RH9, unless you plan on using this as a testing
system only, ie no internet connectivity/low functionality. If you
install RH9 now...you'll basically have to update every package in the
distro if you want current releases. I highly suggest that you stay away
from RH 9 unless you are a Redhat aficionado. Why do you want to install
RH9? Are you trying to prepare for an exam or something?

The newbie route would be to install Ubuntu/Mandriva/SUSE(something easy
and current) on that empty partition. You need a swap partition as well,
but the Ubuntu installer can help you partition your drive. If you
really want something that is similar to Redhat then you might want to
use Fedora Core, Mandriva or SUSE. I'd delete that empty 10G partition
with the installer's disk partition manager then recreate it is an
extended partition. From there make a bunch of logical partitions...one
for swap, one for /, and one for home.

If that confuses you just delete partition and make an extended
partition that is 10gigs and let the partition manager handle the rest.
