Hello, I cannot get past the 'udev' initialization at boot time.
Right after 'udev' starts (with [ OK ] status), the monitor flickers to go into X11 mode. But the computer hangs with the following symptoms: 1. the hard-disk LED turns off, and 2. the monitor LED starts blinking, indicating monitor's standby (or, no signal) mode. I could boot up just fine a couple Fedora 9 kernel releases earlier. That is, in the following grub menu list... title Fedora (2.6.27.23-78.2.50.fc9.i686) root (hd0,0) kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.27.23-78.2.50.fc9.i686 ro root=/dev/VolGroup00/ LogVol00 rhgb quiet initrd /initrd-2.6.27.23-78.2.50.fc9.i686.img title Fedora (2.6.27.21-78.2.41.fc9.i686) root (hd0,0) kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.27.21-78.2.41.fc9.i686 ro root=/dev/VolGroup00/ LogVol00 rhgb quiet initrd /initrd-2.6.27.21-78.2.41.fc9.i686.img title Fedora (2.6.27.12-78.2.8.fc9.i686) root (hd0,0) kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.27.12-78.2.8.fc9.i686 ro root=/dev/VolGroup00/ LogVol00 rhgb quiet initrd /initrd-2.6.27.12-78.2.8.fc9.i686.img ... I must scroll to entry #3 to be able to sucessfully boot up. I have an external USB hard-disk attached. But the result is identical with or without this hard-disk connected! Could somebody please help?? I'm getting concerned that with the next kernel release, this 3rd entry will automatically get removed following which I won't be able to boot up at all! /hs PS: I posted this on Fedora Forum at http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=222318 , got no response. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Linux Users Group.
