Are they all logging to the same location? Run df to see if any filesystems are full. Next I'd try running syslog debug mode and see if it prints out anything (If so, the utils that should be going to syslog with their messages are not). Also, if you have a remote server you could set up remote syslogging so another server will be storing the logs, which may shed some light on the subject.
Have you run any major upgrades (to anything at all) recently? You could try reinstalling syslog from the RPM to ensure you have a stock configuration.
