The easiest way for a Windows user is via the GUI. Go to System,
Administration, File Manager, superuser or in a terminal you can type gksu
nautilus (if this is not installed). I am not sure how well this will work
running from the CD, though as you don't really have a user account or
password, yet.

The idea with Linux is to protect data and that means that files have
permissions checked for each user. The admin or superuser or owner can
change permissions. To do this right-click on the files(s) and choose
Properties from the drop down, then click on the Permissions tab. You want
to change access and owner to you, but as I said since there is no 'you' set
up on the Live CD I am not sure how it will work. Let us know!
