Hi Sudheendra, I also have a broadcom wifi card in my laptop. I feel your pain.
Getting the drivers for these cards is the trick. With mine, 4318, I had to install 'b43-fwcutter' to download firmware and install it. With yours, 4312, it is a bit different apparently. You need to install the proprietary driver called 'wl'. Along the way, you may have to build and load a kernel module to run the driver. (I am getting this from a Debian wiki at http://wiki.debian.org/wl) Ubuntu may be different. According to one person (http:// forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=44298), the 'wl' driver is in the Ubuntu non-free or restricted repository. Good Luck, Please let me know how it goes.
