I use Ubuntu and it has ndiswrapper and a GUI that makes it simple to install, ndisgtk. When I used the GUI approach it took care of all of the details and the wireless has always worked. Your problem is that you have Broadcom which just plain sucks in Linux. Mine is Atheros and they have good support. BTW, I no longer use ndiswrapper because the newer version of Ubuntu supports my card.
