Hello all, Any pointers on how to troubleshoot getting sound via my headset on a Toshiba laptop running Ubuntu 8.04?
I have a headset (earphones and mic) which work great in other laptops and desktops. However, on this Toshiba laptop (Satellite L35) running Ubuntu 8.04, the internal speakers and the mic jack work just fine but the audio jack does not. For example, when I watch YouTube, I can hear the audio just fine from the speakers. But when I plug in the headset, I hear nothing through the ear phones. If I repeat the same process on another computer I have (also running Ubuntu 8.04), I can hear the audio just fine through the headset. So, where is the issue? Is it in the hardware, the audio driver, some configuration, or somewhere else? Googling has turned up this page http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=394038 but no solutions, yet. Still searching. Thanks in advance for any pointers.
