I'm using 3.5.3 on Gentoo, and haven't seen any problems (under light use, anyway). A thought, though, you could kill -9 the process, and firefox may launch the 'I quit unexpectedly' dialog and offer to give you a dump report. Might be a good idea to file a bug - worst case, they close the bug. Best case one of the developers looks into it for you.
