@Jeremiah: I disagree - this is, or might be, a Linux question. KVM switches carry some very Linux-specific hardware issues.
@AKA: KVM switches do not, generally, transmit EVERYTHING back and forth between the machine and the monitor, and this CAN, and WILL, cause large difficulties. I have NO experience with the KVM you mention. It might act as mine does, it might not. KVMs that cost less than $500, which is most of them, generally DO have these issues. Without writing an essay of 100 pages, here is what you need to do. Get the computer up and running WITHOUT the kvm. If you have a graphics card, make sure you've run it through it's configuration routines, whatever they may be. Then shutdown, attach the KVM, and reboot. DO NOT switch the KVM to any other machine while this is booting!! After you are done booting, you have logged in, and you gui desktop is running, you can switch to the other machine on the KVM. You will probably ALWAYS have to follow this procedure while booting. For more info, you can look up DDC "Direct Data Channel" on Wikipedia. The OS and the hardware talk to each other on boot, and occasionally thereafter. I can't run some games on my box when my KVM is connected. The monitor doesn't get thru the KVM to "answer" the OS questions correctly. The KVM passes most of the monitor's answers, but not all. kk - 'nuff said??
