I'm running Mint 9 on my desktop box that has a NVidia GeForce FX5200 video card. I have installed the NVIDIA-Linux-x86-173.14.27-pkg1.run driver from NVidia's site. I normally have the Visual Effects tab in the System => Appearance window set to Extra. This doesn't happen all that often, but sometimes when I log in, compiz will be totally dead. The Visual Effects tab will have None selected. I can go back in and change it to Extra and it will work, but all of my custom settings in ccsm are set back to defaults. I've never been able to figure this out and have googled extensively trying to find an answer. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
